MFT Wednesday Stamp Club 11.23.11

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving with their family and friends.  And if you ventured out on Black Friday hopefully you got some great deals.

I know I haven't posted much but truly I am crafting!   And I am thankful for that, I just haven't had time to post as well as I really need a new camera or some classes.  I have been told my pictures don't do my cards justice.

On that note this week it was all about the new goodies I recently purchased and used for the MFT Wednesday Stamp Sketch.  SU Cherry Cobbler ribbon and cardstock- (so pretty), Flower Soft and MFT's Tweeny Teen Stamp set.   I had a lot of fun making this card.  Hope you enjoy and thanks for stopping by. :)

MFT class- Back to therapy I mean creating :)

I am back!   It has been a rough 5 weeks.  We closed on the condo, renovated it, painted, clean, repaired.... you name it.  Then my husband and I made the trip to NY, meet with movers and the real estate agent.  The beloved grandparents are officially in their super cute villa in Florida.  Today my husband I a reclaimed our house- LOL.  So my craft space is getting put back together and just in time for Christmas card making.

Since it has been so rough and I knew how much getting crafty would help my psyches,  I signed up for a class with Pam at our local MFT store.   I am so glad I did.  Her cards are so stinking cute and I got to take a look at the new releases,  Yeah I also got some retail therapy too :).  So take a look below and thanks for stopping by.

Snow globe Snowman :)  I love this new dienamic "Loopy Bloom" rolled flower.

Another very pretty dienamic Oval dainty doily.

This is stamp set is called Disco Queen.  Pam had us paper pierce the Disco ball using blue iridescent paper so clever.

Thanks again for stopping by and hopefully see again soon for whats to come :).

Happy Birthday BFF

So sometimes my camera takes very clear pictures and sometimes not?!  I took this picture at the same time as I took the my last post picture (with the exact same settings) and this one came out so much more clearer.  I promise I am working on getting a newer camera and some classes!

Anyway the same friend that asked for the last card asked me to do this card for her BFF.   I just happen to be in Micheal's (again) and saw this BFF stamp in the $1 bin and thought it would be perfect.  I just loved playing with MFT rolled roses too and the DP paper is one of my favorite sets.

Hope you like and thanks for stopping by.  PS its still raining so I guess I will just have to craft all day! :)

Mojo Monday 209

A little late getting this up..... its been a busy busy week, closing on a place for my grandparents and the painting begins but has now stopped due to me being sick.  Yes a place not lived in for about a year is a very dirty place and not good for your sinuses.  Ok but enough about that :)

I made this card for a friend for her daughter's upcoming birthday.   She will be 21 and her request was anything with a lot of purple in it.   I think I managed that :).   I used the Mojo Monday 209 challenge for the layout and my Stamping Bella Stamp- Cakeabella as I thought she was fabulous enough for a 21 year old.
Enjoy your Sunday :).

Halloween Treats

It is raining cats and dogs out there.   So it was a perfect day to stay in and craft.   I spent the day with some fabulous ladies making some Christmas cards (yes I said Christmas).  Each year I attend a workshop called "Stamp a Stack" that is held by Stampin UP Demonstrator Beverly Scott.  Its held in her amazing studio and we are asked to bring a snack.

I decided  to bring turtle caramel apples and craft them up a bit making this really cute tag.  It was my first tag!  I bought the bags at Michaels and just added my crafted tag.  Well Happy Halloween it will be here before you know it (and yes so will Christmas).  Thanks for stopping by.

Double Harvest Duty :)

What can I say I really like my PTI Vintage Picnic stamp set :).  I combined two challenges into one card this week.  I played along with the KinderStampO Sketchy Wednesday  and the CR84fn color challenge.  Just love Jess's cute card layout and these color combo's together.

I have wanted to incorporate newspaper or book page in a project for a while and couldn't get creative enough.  One of the fabulous Design Team Members for KinderStampO - Celine Regnier just completed a card using a book page that caught my eye and I sorta cased her project on my card.   To check out her card click here. Her card is so spooky cute!

Well thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great week.

Hi Folks,   I am still here.   Just trying to get things settled on the closing date for my Grandparents and get them in their new place.    So happy for them to be able to get in their own routine and new home. It has been a long time coming.   Once the closing date happens then I have to fly to NY meet with the movers, the realtor, shut down utilities, dis-enroll them in what is called the "Star" program etc etc.  Busy Busy but I am sure I can squeeze in a few for the city :)

So since I will be flying to NY soon I have been really excited about the fall weather I will get to enjoy.   So for this weeks Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge I decided to do a fall card.  Hope you like and thanks for stopping by :)

Meet the KinderStampO Guest Design Team Blog Hop

I am overjoyed with excitement!   Some of you have seen me mention a blog that I follow called KinderStampO.   I have been following Jess for about a year now.   She is such a great teacher and what I like most about her blog are the video demostrating's on various techniques.   I can tell you hands down she has taught me at least 10 different techniques.   Jess also has a super cute stamp/embellishment line.  Recently there was a calling for a Guest spot on the Design Team and I am thrilled to say that I was one of the lucky ones chosen.

Tonight to introduce the Guest Design Team we are holding a short quaint little blog hop.  The deets are below on how to get entered and win some blog candy!  Stop on over to the KinderStampO Facebook page and let them know I sent you and/or leave a comment on each of the guest designers blogs (including mine).  You have between 6:30-9:30 pm. One lucky winner will win a prize from KinderStampO.  Your next stop is the talented Wee Choo Bin.

Please feel free to check out some of my previous posts if you are new to my blog.  Thanks for playing along and stay tuned to see the wonderful projects that Jess will have us creating.

SSSC #133

Most of us woman are aware that October is  Breast Cancer Awareness Month.   For this week's "the sweetest thing sketch challenge", I made this pretty pink card.  This card along with 7 others is being donated to an upcoming event for the Compassionate Hands and Hearts Foundation.  Vanessa Echols founded this organization and is a local news woman who survived breast cancer.  This year her organization is holding  the  Galerie de Rose. The event is being held at one of our local assisted living facilities auctioning an art gallery full of donated items.  I am honored to be a part of this event.

If you are interested in attending and are local follow the link above and remember "Get em squished." :)

CR84FN37

So below  are the colors of choice for this weeks CR84FN color challenge.  You can find the challenge at the CR84FN blog.  These color combo look so pretty together.

Yesterday I picked up the Rolled Roses Die-namics from MFT and couldn't wait to play.   So here is what I came up with.   Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your Sunday.

Grand Opening for My Favorite Things

Yesterday was GREAT!.   The store is beautiful and way to much to choose from.  Of course I couldn't help myself as you can tell below.   Kim (the owner)  was kind enough to give a free stamp set for every $25 so of course that helped my motivation to shop.  I love all of my new toys and think I am set for a little while.

The Copic class was awesome too.   Colleen Schaan who is a certified Copic Instructor taught the class and we learned how to blend colors together making two cards.   Aren't they so cute?  I thoroughly enjoyed her class. Colleen is a really great teacher and afterwards she demonstrated on how to color pleats and use a new product called opaque.   I will be practicing and posting what I come up with at a later time. If you want to learn more check out her blog-distinctivetouches.

Last thing to share, MFT will be holding classes in the store monthly.  To find out more go their MFT Blog and subscribe to their newsletter.   It is a great business and Kim has her whole family involved.   They are all super nice. :)

SSSC131

I have found yet another fun sketch challenge.  If you haven't checked out "the sweetest thing" blogspot by Karen Giron then you should :) She is very talented  in card making and a great photographer.  Her cards are super cute and her coloring ability with copics is just divine.  She "enspires" me- LOL.

Speaking of photographer sorry for the cruddy pictures lately, we recently bought a new camera and I can't figure the dang thing out. My next hobby a refresher photography class.  Maybe?

So for this challenge I once again used my new favorite new find inkadinkado Kids Quotes - Tell it like it is.  I think I might have mentioned there are 5 total and I promise to do a project with them all.   Kids say the darnedest things.

Thanks for checking out my card and have a great a weekend.

MFT

I am super excited this week.  First MFT is opening a store here in Florida the grand opening is next weekend and I also get to take a coloring  class for Copics with Kim (yes Kim the creator of MFT).  My husband thinks I am nuts.  I believe his exact words were "why are  you so happy about going to learn to color?"   Yeah he doesn't understand.

One of the first stamps sets I bought was MFT.  I purchased them at a scrapbook convention and got to meet Kim.   I instantly became a fan :).   I can't wait to see her stamp sets in the new store!   I haven't been this excited about something in a long time.

Ok so for the MFT Sketch  this week,  I made this card for friend of mine who like me loves dogs.
Have a great week and thanks for stopping by.

What inspires you?

Wow it’s been over two months since I have made a single card, no need to worry I am not quitting my hobby, I need it. It’s my therapy J.  Since my last post I have had to give up my crafting room.   There was a family emergency that resulted in my grandparents moving in with me from New York.   On top of that I was part of a planning committee for an organization called Florida State Guardianship Association.  We had about 400 attendees!   It was a huge success.  And lastly my nephew from Vegas was here for about 5 weeks of the summer.   Regardless to say I have been quite busy.
So I had to make some improvising and re-create a space for me in the office.   At first I thought I am good this will work.   I still had my craft table, my oils (ambiance), my music and all – well most of my major tools at my fingertips.  I realized very shortly that I had lost my mojo even for Mojo Monday L.   I had to find a way to get re-ENSPIRED.   I tried shopping for new DSP, new stamps.   Yup they all came in and nothing.
I started reflecting on how hectic things have been and acquiring more of an appreciation for several people in my life.  So........ I figured I need to tell them by making them a card!
“Happiness will never come to those who fail to appreciate what they already have.” ~unknown source
My grandparents are doing much better now and ready to get their own place.  We have two offers in on two condos so please keep them in your prayers.    We are very excited to have them here in Florida with us and look forward to spending the upcoming holidays all together.
Stayed tuned I will be posting some the cards I made and hopefully I am back in full swing.  Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Leister Blog Award

Hi All
Anna  from Papercrafts, Joy & My Inspirations bestowed upon me the "Liebster Award"!!!
The Liebster Blog Award is given to bring new blogs into the light. It's a great way to share blogs that might not otherwise be noticed and should be. As a recipient of this award I am to pick 3 - 5 blogs, pass it on and do the following:

  1. Let them know you chose them.
  2. Copy and paste the award to your blog.
  3. Have faith that your followers will rally and show their crafty love back out to those awarded.
  4. And have fun!!
I have to tell you, this was so fun!   There are so many blogs that show true expression.   I thought originally I would be picking just card crafting blogs, but seeing others vision in different forms of creativity was great.   I read blogging on  writing, home resigning, jewelry making and even adoption ... from china.   Of course I love love my crafter's but I had to at least throw in two unconventional creative blogs.

So without further ado my choices are:
  1. Briana at vintage53,  the jewelry is absolutely beautiful, check out her etsy shop too!
  2. Michelle at JiroKen,  Michelle has the cutest cards and you know I love cards!
  3. Julie at Bits of Bruce she is a great journalist, her writing is very good. And she is random on her projects from painting to sewing to house remodeling.
  4. Amanda at Crafty Paper Girl ,  love her page layouts and great photographer. ooh and has a great etsy shop.
  5. Phyliss at scrappynhappy,  ok this blog is closing however Phylliss has started a new one at  New Blog but I am listing the first one as she has a great message on blog hopping that I think is very important.  Again because of this award I did a lot of blog hopping and really enjoyed it.  So it would be a shame if bloggers remove the ability for you to hop to the next hop.   Also Phyllis is an avid book reader and blogs about her review on the books she read.

Go check out these wonderful ladies- they all have fabulous sites and are full of wonderful inspiration!!! Thanks again to Anna for nominating me!!!

~Theresa

Liebster Blog Award

Happy Thursday!   So I was surprised to learn that another blogger past on to me what is called the Liebster Blog Award.   At first I was like hmmm, what could this be? So off course I googled it...   Basically its an honor as someone who thinks that your new blog is noteworthy enough to spread the word to other bloggers.   It is now my duty to find 3-5 new bloggers  that I think is noteworthy and pass the award on to them.  Let me tell you not an easy task.  There are so many great blogs out there!   So stayed tuned as I am compiling my list. And a big thanks to Anna for awarding me this.  P.S you should check out her blog as well here is the link Papercrafts, Joy & My Inspirations.

Celebrate Spring :)

Happy Monday!   So much to share...   First I have been working on my technique to color hair using copics.   I used four markers to color this little girl's hair.  E99, E97, Y21, Y11.  Its still a work in process as I am watching/learning from the tutorials on you tube and  Kinderstampo. Very neat and fun to do!

On to the next thing.... I follow blogger Leigh O'Brien  she is a past dirty dozener (amongst other credits) and is oh so talented. Here is a link to her blog Sunflower Studio, you should check it out.

From viewing some of her recent posts  I picked up a few tips and tricks.   As you can see my little girl is standing in grass, this is a die cut from cats pajamas and the little pinwheel is also a die cut from cats pajamas.  I will definitely be using these two tools again in my next projects.

Ok the last part... I learned how to create clouds!   Leigh has on her blog a demo using copic markers, copic airbrush system and a punched out scalloped circle to create the look.    I sorta modified this technique as I don't own the airbrush system.   So all I used was my ink and these two items.

You can go to Leigh's blog to view the airbrush way, using the Jim Holtz pad is basically the same idea.   I started at the top and kept moving my circle down the page stamping the pad.

Well I hope you enjoyed.   Back to stamping and learning :)

Its Easter :)

Technically I was on vacation this week but I also took some time for cards and  learned some new things...   Like how to time publishing a post.   I posted two cards this week while I was at the beach, who says you can't be two places at one time :).   Anyway I am  so excited to share my new finds.   Lets start with this card.... cuttlebug has a new folder called seeing spots. I used it in my inner circle and I just love it.     Hope you had a great Easter and check back  as I have a really cool new technique to share with you.
